Too Young The Hero (1988)

This is the amazing true story of a young man determined to do his bit for his country in World War II. He chose to leave behind his family and enlist in the US Navy. He was just 12 years old, but still fooled his recruiting officer. By the age of thirteen, having survived the great sea and land battles of Santa Cruz and Guadalcanal, he had been awarded the Bronze Star for heroism. Now luck turns against him, and in a mix up of battle orders, he is faced with accusations of desertion in the face of the enemy, which to this day carries the death penalty. This then is Calvin Graham's true story of bravery, of brutality and of injustice. Needless to say, it is quite remarkable, and Ricky Schroder's portrayal of Calvin Graham matches, if not surpasses his remarkable role in THE CHAMP.
