Now that Bom's memories of the tunnel crash that killed her parents have returned, we can piece together that Ki-won arrived on the scene while looking for something he called "Death's Pass." He told her about it as a diversion and gave her the Midnight Studio camera to hold in the hopes that it would keep her alive while he went to call for assistance. Sadly, the original crash's perpetrators—who would subsequently turn out to be the vacation home robbers who murdered Ki-won—came back to collect a dropped cell phone and purposefully cut him down to remove him as a witness to their hit-and-run.
