Looking at the vehicle crash that concluded last week's episode from a different angle shows that Ki-joo was the intended target of the evil spirit that took control of the deliveryman's truck. It appears that the curse is now catching up with him. Ki-joo passes out in Bom's arms as the Safe Zone opens and the ghosts (temporarily) disappear. He tried to restore Bom's ghost vision with a second photo, but ended up forcing the Gate of the Dead open, which is why he has a fever from phantom energy. Bom carries him home on her back, but he doesn't have time to relax because the accident took the lives of up to 25 people, so he has a large waiting list of clients who want their last moments captured on camera.
