The Eight Hundred is based on real life events: the defense of Sihang Warehouse in 1937 Shanghai by Chinese NRA (National Revolutionary Army) troops during the Battle of Shanghai and the Chinese War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression also known as Second Sino-Japanese War.
