Our team is thrilled to be part of a large project by the international architectural bureau ATELIER BRÜCKNER, Silkroad Vision Technology Co and Shenzhen Urban Planning Museum.
The museum is part of the new Shenzhen City Center and the Futian Cultural District.
The museum building was designed by the Austrian architectural firm Coop Himmelb (l)au, spanning a total area of 8500 sq. m.
For the museum we have developed and implemented 2 multimedia installations (in the video from 1:20)
1. Build Up a City (AR installation)
There are characteristic urban elements like cars, trees, houses, factories and more that players can place on the table. When objects are placed inside the city, we can see them “grow” on the screen. If they place similar objects close to each other, they multiple: 1-2 trees become a forest, for instance, or 1-2 houses become a skyscraper.
Houses are happy when they are near parks and attractions, but they are sad when factories or parking lots appear nearby. If we put more objects of the same type close to each other, a global event will take place. Environmental disasters occur when the air becomes polluted and the environment deteriorates. This summons a garbage monster that ruins the city.
2. Draw Up a City
Users see a skyline of a black and white city. The image slowly moves from one side of the screen to the other, letting us see the cityscape.
Kids choose one of the suggested options for making changes in the city:
- Find an architectural object that they like on the projection and make it colorful using the touch table. Afterwards, the building becomes colorful on the projection.
- Choose a vehicle (car, airplane, train, etc.) from templates shown on the touch screen, make it colorful and send it to the projection of the city.
- Draw a creature. Afterwards, they can imitate how it moves around the city and see it in real time on the projection.
