The initial episode of the series is a fusion of two supplementary segments showcased in the twelfth publication of Mizuho Kusanagi's manga sequence, titled "On That Back" and "Kija". "On That Back" illuminates an event that arises at a hot spring retreat, whereas "Kija" offers a sneak peek into Hakuryuu Kija's history. The following two episodes that portray the remaining plot of the Zeno Arc had become part of the manga's twenty-first and twenty-second volumes.
