Here are 10 common Phrasal Verbs.
Let's learn the difference in meaning between the common verb "pick" and the phrasal verb "pick up". The common verb "pick" means to choose something.
"I often pick whites clothes when I go shopping."
The phrasal verb "pick up" means to go to a place,
collect someone and take them to another place.
"Tomorrow I will pick up my girlfriend from the airport."
Practise speaking and pronouncing these sentences after me.
"Tomorrow, I will pick up my girlfriend from the airport."
"Tomorrow, I will pick my girlfriend up from the airport."
"Tomorrow, I will pick her up from the airport."
Here are the rules for this phrasal verb "pick up". The noun "girlfriend" can be put after the
phrasal verb or between the verb and the particle. The pronoun "her" goes between the verb and the
particle and it CANNOT go after the phrasal verb.
By the way, can you say "from the airport or "at the airport"? Well, both are correct. You choose what you use.
