For those who know Takehiko Inoue, the manga's creator, he's definitely not the type to repeat what he's done in the past. For him, his work on Slam Dunk ended 25 years ago. He's refused to reboot the manga several times. When I heard that a Slam Dunk movie was in production, I didn't expect him to be the director of this movie but the guy is so perfect and wanted to do it his way so he accepted the challenge, so this is his first movie and what a movie it is!

On a technical level, there's a perfect balance between the 3D action and the drawing styles of the original manga. It gives you the feeling that you're really in a basketball game. The whole movie is detail-oriented, I found it really amazing technically. Bravo to the director and his team for that. The music gave the movie dynamism, it was just right.
For those who know the original manga's script, although the score is the same, it wasn't a copy and paste from the original manga. You'll discover the same facts from a completely different angle and some additional stories that make the movie very consistent. I love the way Takehiko Inoue described the relationships between some of the characters. This is done in a very elegant way, without exaggeration, and in line with Japanese culture.
One of the main reasons why the original manga is so popular is that the entire story was very inspiring for teenagers with many stories that can be considered life lessons. Besides, the characters have strong charisma but remain very real. If you have never read the manga, this movie is a good start to discover it.
