This past weekend, the family and I took a trip up to beautiful New Hampshire for a weekend of fun and games. And where can there possibly be more fun and games than at the Guinness World Records recognized "World's Largest Arcade", Funspot in Laconia, NH? Well, if we're going to get technical about it, there's a few other places out there that may have more games... Galloping Ghost in Chicago, Past Times in Ohio, maybe some of the Japanese mega-arcades like GiGO... but Funspot is currently still the official record holder until any of the others get certified by Guinness, so, here we are! This place is literally out in the middle of nowhere; you'll be driving through wooded, rural residential neighborhoods for at least a half-hour once you're off the highway, but once you come across it, it's stunning to the amount of space they've got. Built into the hillside, this three-floor building is home to somewhere around 400 individual machines. The bottom floor consists of racing games, skee-ball, air hockey, and a few other redemption games, as well as their restaurant, "The Braggin' Dragon". The second floor has a rather large kid-friendly section with a number of coin-operated rides and bumper cars, the majority of the redemption games, some modern shooters mixed with classic multiplayer arcade games, a full-sized bowling alley (as well as lanes that feature candlepin bowling), the "Pinball Outpost" which is a space-themed alcove that has a few dozen machines, and the "D.A. Long Tavern", a bar and lounge type area with a few more arcade games and pins along with a pool table and darts machine. This section is typically 21+, but children are allowed as long as they're accompanied by a parent.
