During World War II a group of soldiers
Americans make their way through Europe
resulting in the Victors in the campaigns of Italy,
France, Belgium, Holland and finally Germany.
In Italy, soldier Baker (Vince Edwards) meets
Maria (Rossana Schiaffino), whose husband is
missing in action, but must be transferred
with her group to France the day after the landing
of Normandy. There, Sergeant Craig (Elli Wallach)
meets a French woman (Jeanne Moreau)
while she inspects a house to house a barracks
campaign. For his part, Private Trower (George
Hamilton) meets violinist Regine (Romy
Schneider). In Belgium, Corporal Chase (George
Peppard) is seduced by Magda (Melina Mercouri),
who has better plans for him than military life.
Meanwhile the events of the War
They continue until they reach their end and Trower must
stay in West Berlin as part of the
American detachment. There he will meet the
sisters Helga (Elke Sommer) and Trudi (Senta Berger)
who live on the other side of the wall, in East Berlin...
Written and directed by Carl Foreman and based on a
Alexander Baron's novel, The Victors narrates
some of the most significant events of the
end of World War II from the perspective of the
personal experiences and the daily life of soldiers and
their relations with civilians during the conflict.
