"Oh my God, he's my cousin!" Normally, I don't write reviews for "middling" movies, but while I don't think this is a particularly good romantic movie.. there's something miniscule to it I'm trying to explore at the moment. I liked most everything in this movie. The locations, production, actors, interactions and such. It has a very good production and execution. But many of its parts feel like they were included to fill in the gaps.. for example, the other guy in the movie poster feels like an afterthought beyond certain point! It's certainly not a triangle of any kind and I find that deceptive. Still, phony parts aside, it weaves together decently (structure and narrative-wise) and the things it tells make some kind of sense if you squint. And the plot is shaky and weird enough to be at least interesting. I guess more than anything, I quite liked Josephine Langford as a lead, and can see myself enjoying her in other roles. But the predictable ending, undercooked drama, and lack of comedy (that tag is also deceptive) really hurt it.
