The Sovereign Wealth Fund saved the Japanese government from a financial meltdown. But for its residents, life hasn't gotten any better; unemployment, crime, suicide, and hopelessness are all too common. Kimimaro is a scholarship student whose main desire is to have a steady, regular life. He was raised by his maternal aunt after his father vanished and his mother passed away. He runs into a man one day who offers him a large quantity of money in exchange for letting his "future" be kept as collateral. His future is drastically changed from that point on after being dragged into the mysterious Financial District, where he must participate in weekly competitions known as "deals" in order to keep his money and his life.
