The Thin Red Line (1964)

Just eight days after marrying his beautiful bride, Private Doll (Keir Dullea) is drafted to serve in WWII. Determined to see her again, he vows to stay alive at all costs including disobeying orders and following his own. Sergeant Welch Jack Warden is a career soldier who does what he's told and is prepared for the insanity of battle. Both men are assigned to the same dangerous mission: drive the enemy out of a wall of caves known as "The Dancing Elephant." As the violence gows around them, their own personal war escalates.
