John 15:18-19

In John 15:18-19, Jesus tells his disciples that the world will hate them because they are not of the world, just as the world hated him. He says that if they belonged to the world, the world would love them as its own, but because they do not belong to the world, but he has chosen them out of the world, the world hates them. This is because the message and way of life that Jesus and his disciples were promoting were contrary to the values and ways of the world, which were rooted in sin and self-centeredness. As followers of Christ, we too can expect to face opposition and persecution from the world, but we can take comfort in the fact that we are not alone, and that Jesus has overcome the world.
