Take Off is based on a TRUE STORY about Korea's bid to host the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and the country's first ski jumping team: Story The film is about five Korean men competing in the ski jump for the first time at the Olympics. The team had limited funding and practiced in poor conditions, including an abandoned theme park. Director Kim Yong-hwa (김영화) directed the film, which stars Ha Jung-woo (하정우) as Cha Heon-tae / Bob, Sung Dong-il (성동일) as Coach Bang, Kim Ji-suk (김지석) as Kang Chil-gu and Kim Dong-wook (김동욱) as Choi Hong-cheol. Purpose The film was made to introduce ski jumping to Koreans and improve national support for the event.
