Ready for a sneak peek of the newest arcade in New Jersey? We got a first look at Gatcha Menlo Park two weeks before their grand opening on November 16th. I first reported about this back in April of this year, but it looks like the new Gatcha arcade and clawcade is finally just about ready to open at the Menlo Park Mall in Edison, New Jersey! They're a chain with two locations in Orlando, one up in Massachusetts, and then there's their flagship store over in Flushing, Queens (which, shockingly, I have yet to visit). This new spot inside the Menlo Park Mall is the mall's first major arcade in years since Game World closed who knows how long ago. Gatcha's whole strategy is two-fold; step one, have an absolutely dizzying array of claw machines, all filled with cute plushes, anime character figurines, keychains, and the like. Like the prizes you win? Great, keep them! Want something else? You can trade them in towards an even larger selection of prizes available in the Gatcha Shop. Step two, fill out the rest of the arcade with a mix of imported rhythm games. While there's a number of games on the floor that you can find elsewhere, there's definitely some that are a draw in and of themselves. Northern New Jersey currently doesn't have any Dancerush Stardom, or Taiko no Tatsujin, and surprisingly it's kind of a desert for the latest Pump It Up version, "Phoenix", as well -- all of the local machines in the area are still on XX or earlier! Well, all three of those rare rhythm games make appearances here, alongside other fan favorites including Dance Dance Revolution, Maimai, Chunithm, Sound Voltex, Groove Coaster, and Jubeat. This is all rounded out by a mix of other traditional arcade games such as boxing machines, basketball hoops, and air hockey tables. Please note: This video was recorded during Gatcha's preview event, held on November 2nd. During our visit, the only games that were in operation and available to play were the two claw machines closest to the door.
