Last Saturday, October 19th, the eastern PA chapter of the coaster club I'm a part of (American Coaster Enthusiasts) held their annual HalloThriller event at Dorney Park in Allentown. I have a lot of fond memories of this park because for many years, this WAS my hometown park. I grew up 10, maybe 15 minutes away & would frequently visit there as a kid with my family, or go there on school trips. Even though it's one of the "lesser" parks of the Cedar Fair (now Six Flags) chain, I still have a soft spot for this place & will regularly visit multiple times per year. ESPECIALLY when it starts getting to be September, October, & they start decorating the park for Halloween -- their annual Halloween Haunt during the fall season really takes it up another notch.
Saturday's weather was absolutely PERFECT. Nice, sunny, & warm throughout the day, & crisp & cool jacket weather at night. The ACE event included exclusive ride time before the park opened to the public on several rides in the park's upper midway, including Talon, Wild Mouse, Wave Swinger, & Kaleidoscope. They also had a lights-on tour behind the scenes of their Blood On The Bayou haunted house, & a few lucky members got selected to see how the haunt actors get their Halloween faces on. On top of that, there was also a catered lunch with a silent auction for Dorney Park memorabilia, & a Q&A session from the park's PR manager Ryan Eldredge. And for the event's early registrants, we were provided with Fast Lane wristbands to get expedited entry at most of the park's rides & all of the haunted houses. All in all, it was a wonderful time & one of the events on the ACE calendar I will always look forward to.
Granted, this video is even more of a "park vlog" video than most of the ones I do, but of course I'm not skipping the games. The Funzone Arcade makes another appearance here, & unlike my previous Dorney Park video, this time we get to see it nearly empty thanks to the building being open during the event's excl
