In 1983, two years after his crimes as the Joker, Arthur Fleck is now interned at Arkham Psychiatric Hospital in Gotham City, torn between his two identities, while awaiting trial. Lee Quinzel, also present in the establishment, appears fascinated by him. The two then become closer in their shared madness through music while Joker's many supporters show their support for his release.
