A galaxy 236 million light-years away experienced a rare outburst triggered by a magnetic reversal near its central black hole. In late 2017, the galaxy brightened significantly in visible light and showed increased UV emission. The X-ray emission disappeared in June and reappeared in October. Scientists believe these changes were caused by a magnetic switch, where the magnetic field flipped, affecting the accretion disk and corona around the black hole. As the magnetic field restored itself, the galaxy returned to its original state.
