Rain showers in Tokyo have thrown everyone off their daily routine. Hodaka Morishima, a runaway high school student, struggles to make ends meet and finds employment at a small-time publisher. Meanwhile, Hina Amano is an orphan in search of work to support herself and her younger brother. Their paths cross when Hodaka rescues Hina from a group of questionable men and they decide to run away together.
