Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (or simply Pinocchio) is a 2022 stop-motion animated dark fantasy drama film directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson. The film reimagines the adventures of Pinocchio, a wooden puppet who comes to life as the son of his carver Geppetto. It is "a story of love and disobedience as Pinocchio struggles to live up to his father's expectations, learning the true meaning of life". Del Toro placed more focus on history by incorporating the fascist reign of dictator Benito Mussolini in Fascist Italy during the interwar period and World War II, which adds to the dark tone of the movie. Overview: A father's wish magically brings a wooden boy to life in Italy, giving him a chance to care for the child.
